Part-time Work

D-2 students may work part-time only after the university and immigration approve it. Working first and asking later is a visa violation.

How many hours you may work

Allowed hours depend on your Korean language level.

10hours a week

No TOPIK, CEFR or IELTS score

25-30hours a week

TOPIK 3, CEFR B2 or IELTS 5.5

30hours a week

TOPIK 4 or higher

The rules

    Permit required first

    Get university and immigration approval before your first day of work.

  2. 2

    No work without approval

    Working before the permit, or beyond your allowed hours, is a visa violation.

  3. 3

    Prohibited work

    Simple labor if you are below TOPIK 4; special employment such as delivery or courier riding; professional fields such as English academies, research positions, IT and technical work.

Take note

Illegal employment

Fines of at least 2,000,000 KRW, visa cancellation, deportation and problems with every future visa.

    Upload each document: application form, employment contract, certificate of enrollment, transcript, TOPIK or IELTS certificate if you have one, business registration certificate, and a copy of the employer's ID.
